The final “One Voice” precedes the concert gala of the World Jazz Network.
On March 13, 2024, the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin will become the center of global jazz. In addition to the final of the Sylwester Ostrowski Music project “One Voice,” the stage will also be occupied by artists from the Sicily Jazz Festival (Italy) and the Amersfoort World Jazz Festival (Netherlands).
“To express our appreciation to Szczecin Jazz, we have decided to present our association World Jazz Network musically during the edition of your festival,” says AWJF head, saxophonist Alexander Beets.
The World Jazz Network is a global organization that brings together more than 100 of the largest jazz festivals from around the world. The main entities are the Sicily Jazz Festival (Italy) and the Amersfoort World Jazz Festival (Netherlands).
Tonight we will hear:
Ellister van der Molen (NL) – trumpeter, composer, and arranger. Lately, she has been focusing more and more on developing as a team leader. Her latest album “Smalls NYC” received a very positive reception and resulted in a performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
Elli, as her friends in the jazz world affectionately call her, is also a member of the board of JazzNL, the Dutch Jazz Association.
@Vito Giordano (IT) – trumpeter, composer, band leader, conductor. One of the most esteemed soloists in Europe. He has given many concerts, participated in jazz festivals, and concert events at national and international levels. The Brass Group Foundation in Palermo is mainly performed under Palermo. He has more than twenty albums to his credit, including Flavours with Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez (Videoradio), Handful o Soul with International Big Band D. Gojkovicha (Enja Records), Three Drums Show with OJS, P. Schijn maar op, A. Wieg. (Platinum Records)
Fabio Lannino – double bassist and bass guitarist. Artistic director of the Sicily Jazz Festival and longtime director of the Fondazione The Brass Group.
Fabio Lannino can be described in a very short and illustrative way – il capo di tutti en capi of Sicilian jazz. For decades, he has been carrying out activities on a broad international scale as an artist, music producer, artistic director, and educator. Fabio knows everyone, everyone knows Fabio! It’s time for Szczecin jazz fans to meet Fabio too.
Alexander Beets – Artistic director at the Amersfoort World Jazz Festival. Tenor saxophonist and leader of his own band. Alexander gained international recognition with his “explosive” sound and unique swing. Over the past decades, he has shared a lineup with legends such as John Clayton, Deborah Brown (USA), Sylwester Ostrowski (PL), and Koh Mr. Saxman (Thailand). A tribute to the legends that have inspired him over the years, his latest release “Big Sounds” includes both original compositions and favorite standards including Stanley Turrentine and Cole.
Both Fabio Lannino and Alexander Beets are widely regarded as two of the most influential figures in the jazz world.
